FAITH ABOVE FATE

"Religion as vaulting architecture, art, arcane ritual, as majestic gatherings becomes spectacle; subconsciously, it assumes entertainment form and loses its moral potency. Like medicine which has a heavy sugar coating, it is the sugar that is absorbed in the system, not the medicine. And this is so particularly true when the people who take that religion (or medicine) cannot understand or perceive the pith, the meaning, the substance of what is good for them, what will invigorate them. They will remain what they are, impervious to the necessary changes that must be absorbed by them if they are to rise from that bog wherein their ignorance has mired them."
